  An Effective Networker...

…has a strong handshake (Have you ever shaken hands with a power-monger or a weak person?).

…makes solid eye contact – it conveys confidence!!

…has a genuine desire to learn more about the person to whom they are talking.

…has the ability to listen closely and ask compelling questions – then capitalize on opportunities you hear.

…also has the ability to remember names and details of those they meet – record information on the back of their card!

…always takes time to meet a prospective new referral source.

…has willingness to give without the expectation of getting anything in return.

…follows through and does what they say they'll do – if you offer to send someone something, or put them in touch with someone, do it!!

…has the ability to recognize and pay attention to body language and social style and react accordingly.

…knows the broad capabilities of the company or firm – not just their own niche.

…has a GREAT elevator speech that conveys the value they deliver to their clients.

…stays in touch – just to stay in touch. Don't you hate it when people call you ONLY when they need something from you??

…has a high level of confidence (or the perception of it!).
