Karen Emanuelson, Project Manager, Social Media Communicator
With more than 25 years as a marketing professional, Karen focuses on providing proactive, relevant marketing communications. She has spent the majority of her career as the sole marketing practitioner in organizations across a broad range of industries including professional service firms, 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, local government, consumer products, and entrepreneurial technology-based companies.
At a time when marketing for professional service firms was in its infancy, Karen pioneered the Marketing Coordinator position for the Dallas office of Touche Ross (now Deloitte Touche). She initiated a media relations program and was responsible for prospective client and RFP research as well as alumni relations – tracking and engaging former employees through quarterly communications and events.
Project Manager
Karen has extensive project management skills honed through years of implementing marketing strategies and planning events. She has created newsletters, collateral materials, and public information campaigns that provide a consistent voice while promoting the organization’s mission. A writer and editor for more than three decades, Karen works closely with designers, photographers, and printers to produce cost-effective communications.
Social Media Communicator
As a Social Media Communicator, Karen helps professionals create a Unique Sales Proposition, achieve top rankings with their LinkedIn profiles, and develop a comprehensive, global social media strategy. She redesigned the city of North Oaks, Minnesota website and assumed responsibility for its promotion and content updates.
Writer/Editor
Currently, Karen is the editor of the “North Oaks News,” a community newspaper produced by Press Publications. Karen has autonomous responsibility for the newspaper’s editorial content including story generation, reporting, editing, photography, and layout. In addition to her work at Press Publications, Karen has been the founding editor and writer of numerous B2B and B2C newsletters. She is a contributing writer for local and national publications and also has experience as a technical writer.
A self-taught desktop publisher, Karen prides herself on taking the complexity out of situations while providing readers with interesting, relevant content. Karen enhanced her reputation for providing clear, concise communication while training more than 250 Ramsey County election officials during the 2008 Primary and General Election.
Event Planner
Karen is a detail-oriented event planner who effectively time manages, negotiates, and plans local, national, large-scale, and intimate events and meetings. She arranges and coordinates on-site event logistics for trade shows, conferences, luncheons, formal VIP dinners, special events, and unique activities including fireworks displays. Karen encourages and readily incorporates management, employee, and participant interaction in client receptions, team-building activities, training seminars, employee meetings, and community events.
In addition to scouting prospective meeting sites, Karen also negotiates travel, lodging and food and beverage arrangements. She has coordinated numerous community activities in the Twin Cities and has managed volunteer staffs as large as 325 people. Karen enjoys researching, creating, and acquiring creative marketing specialties, promotional items, and employee incentives that uniquely tie into the events she plans.
While earning her Bachelor of Science, Business Administration – Marketing, cum laude from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, Karen was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa in recognition for her campus leadership. |
