Case study: Nonprofits
How League of Women Voters Minnesota moved to a streamlined WordPress site before the 2026 midterms.
In 2026, ahead of the midterm elections, PSM moved League of Women Voters Minnesota from an overgrown Squarespace site to a robust WordPress website. PSM cleaned up the site's structure, cut more than 350 pages down to 82 and made it far easier for voters, members and local Leagues to find what they need.

The challenge
Over the years, the League's Squarespace site had grown to more than 350 pages. Handbooks were split into dozens of chapter pages, past conventions, councils, candidate forums and press coverage each had their own pages, and dozens of policy and archive pages sat alongside the voting information people actually came for.
With a statewide audience of voters, members and more than 40 local Leagues, and the 2026 midterm elections approaching, the League needed a site that was easier to navigate, easier for staff and volunteers to keep current, and built on a platform that could grow with the organization.
A cause we care about
An informed electorate and access to voting are causes Terrie Wheeler and Michelle Wheeler care about personally. League of Women Voters Minnesota received a 20% nonprofit discount on the project, so more of its budget could go to the voter education work it does across the state.
Our approach
PSM rebuilt the site around what visitors need most, then moved it to a platform the League can maintain and expand.
01
Audit and restructure
An inventory of every page, then a plan to merge, archive or redirect what visitors no longer needed, so nothing important was lost.
02
Rebuild on WordPress
A move from Squarespace to a more robust WordPress site that staff and volunteers can update and that can grow with the League.
03
Design for the user
Clear navigation built around the League's work: empowering voters, defending democracy, local Leagues, news and events, and getting involved.

“Thank you so much for your amazing and smart work on our website. Your guidance and patience has been incredible. I feel like now our public presence is so much more professional. We do a lot of cool stuff and now we look modern and cool online, too. Thank you for taking all the time and carefully making sure our organization and our work is presented in the best possible light. I know the project was a doozy but you showed up enthusiastically every time.
As I was about to go into another interview this morning - I checked our site to make sure I had election dates right and I saw that you and Mary had moved us over to the new site. I honestly teared up a bit and it was just the positive energy I needed.
It's been a tough year, but working with you was a joy. Thanks a million!!”
— Amy Perna, League of Women Voters Minnesota
“I love working with PSM Marketing and highly recommend them! Michelle is so easy to work with, knowledgeable, and produces high quality recommendations, websites, and communications. I love that they are local and women-owned.”

The outcome
League of Women Voters Minnesota now has a cleaner, more robust website with a clear structure and a far better experience for every visitor. Voters can find how to register, research candidates and vote. Members and local Leagues can find their resources without digging through hundreds of pages.
With 82 pages instead of more than 350, the site is easier for staff and volunteers to keep accurate, which matters most in an election year.
Ready before the midterms.
The new site launched in 2026, giving Minnesota voters a clearer, easier path to the information they need before Election Day.
