You trained to practice law, not to market a practice. PSM Marketing gives law firms an outsourced marketing team led by Terrie Wheeler, who has worked with lawyers since 1985. We handle your website, content, search visibility and referral strategy, and every piece respects the ethics rules you practice under.
In this video, Terrie S. Wheeler, MBC, explains why lawyers need a marketing plan and how PSM Marketing helps law firms grow.
Why law firm marketing is different
Law firms sell trust and judgment, under rules most businesses never face.
Origination depends on a few people
When new business rests on a handful of rainmakers, growth stalls. We build firm-wide visibility and coach attorneys to develop their own books of business.
Every communication has ethics rules
Websites, reviews, social posts and ads must follow the rules of professional conduct. Our work is built with those rules in mind from the start.
Prospective clients research before calling
Clients compare attorney bios, reviews and AI search answers before they reach out. Your firm needs to be findable and clearly credible at each step.
Lawyers never learned marketing in law school
Business development is a learnable skill. One-on-one coaching turns attorneys who dread networking into consistent sources of new matters.

Law firm marketing questions
Can lawyers advertise in Minnesota?
Yes. Lawyer advertising is allowed, subject to the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct on communications about a lawyer's services. Claims must be truthful and not misleading, which affects how firms use results, testimonials and comparisons.
How much does law firm marketing cost?
Most law firms work with PSM Marketing on a monthly retainer. The Quickstart Package runs $2,000 to $4,000 a month, and a full outsourced marketing department runs $4,000 to $10,000 or more, depending on firm size, practice areas and goals.
Do you work with solo attorneys?
Yes. Solo practitioners and small firms often start with the Quickstart Package, which builds a marketing plan and the essentials to carry it out.
Do you work with firms outside Minnesota?
Yes. PSM Marketing is based in Minnesota and works with law firms across the country by video.
Can you help our attorneys with business development?
Yes. Terrie S. Wheeler, MBC, coaches attorneys one-on-one and in practice groups to build their own books of business.
