Are you interested in selling your product online?
E-Commerce (or online sales) is a phenomenal way to reach a broad audience to sell your product. We help small businesses build online stores on the platform that’s right for them (primarily WooCommerce or Shopify).
Spectrum Design and Michelle were invaluable! The BTH Brew Supplies website looks GREAT! You listen to my ideas, add valuable input and have patience for all my questions! Very happy, and feel so grateful to have a reliable resource for the future.
What the heck is WooCommerce?
Before understanding what WooCommerce is, you need to understand how WordPress websites function. WordPress is a platform that can host any type of website. Some people use WordPress sites primarily as blogs, others use it to provide basic information about their business (hours, menus, contact information).
WooCommerce is a third-party plugin that integrates with WordPress websites to allow product sales. This plugin allows you to manage your inventory, accept payments through PayPal, and organize your orders. WooCommerce is a great solution for businesses with robust websites that also want to integrate online sales. The learning curve for using WooCommerce is slightly steeper than Shopify, but using WordPress as the platform provides much more design flexibility.
I keep hearing about Shopify, what is it?
If the primary focus of your business is online sales, you may want to consider a Shopify website. Shopify is a website platform, like WordPress, but its entire functionality is built around online sales. A basic Shopify site costs $29/month and was truly built for ease of use.
Because Shopify hosts your website and provides access to a finite number of themes, your ability to customize is slightly limited. With Shopify sites, you can tailor the color scheme of the site, add your logo, and integrate custom photography.
Online Sales with Etsy
Many of our clients are artists who want to share their passion with the world. In fact, Spectrum founder, Michelle R. Wheeler, is a ceramic artist herself! Etsy is a wonderful online marketplace for craftspeople across the world. Not only does Etsy provide a sales platform, but they actually bring traffic to the website. Hosting an e-commerce with Etsy provides a higher likelihood of potential customers stumbling upon your work. Most artists find Etsy’s rates extremely reasonable.
Spectrum can help you set up your Etsy site, add products, take professional photographs of your work, and help you integrate your social media profiles. We will help customers find, connect with, and buy your work.
